Everyone I have ever talked to about the market said you have to be in it for the long haul. You can not get scared and pull it out the minute the values go down. The time to sell is not when everyone is selling. The time to buy is when people are scared sh*tless like now. There are bargains galore to be had and the people who get in now are going to make all kinds of money when it comes back (which it will).

This idea that you can not follow the crowd is really one of the most fundamental aspects that beginners need to understand. The time to buy stocks is when the blood is running in the streets not when everyone is partying because the market is so high. Investing in the stock market for beginners can be intimidating but this should be a cornerstone of their philosophy. They need to understand that you hold on for the long term and you don't buy when the market is red hot. You buy when everyone else is selling. I have a short post today. I have started a new website on the Yahoo page builder site Geocities. I don't have a good topic yet other than to say I will be talking about whatever tickles my fancy so to speak. As I said it will be more of a page about personal views of things and not a blog about a particular subject like here.
I just felt like I needed a place to talk about things that were important to me which were to specific to what I talk about at blogspot. I also wanted to try out their program and see how easy it is to build a web page. So far I am not really very impressed. Ithink they tried to make it really easy to use but in reality it is fairly difficult.
The page building tools are not very intuitive like they are here at blogspot. I will continue to develop the page and see what happens but so far nothing beats blogger and blogspot.
